Acne diet, i.e. diet, which is aimed to get rid of acne, should be 100% balanced and consist of all necessary vitamins and minerals which strengthen skin and create a good protective shield against the unpleasant problem. So the following vitamins are among those which take a leading part in the struggle between proper diet and acne, in your effort to tip the scale in the favor of the former, naturally having the main purpose to eliminate the latter:

  • Vitamin A, which builds the skin, reduces production of sebum, and is vital for the development of mucous membranes. Vitamin A is also synthesized from carotenes within the human organism.
  • Vitamins of the vitamin B complex, including:
    • thiamine (Vitamin B1), having deoxidizing action and improving metabolism;
    • riboflavin (Vitamin B2), also protecting mucous membranes. Riboflavin is vital for healthy development of hair, skin and nails. Lack of this vitamin causes acne, so don’t forget of having riboflavin in your acne diet, and acnefighting can have no sense if this vital member of B-vitamins family is not present;
    • Niacin (Vitamin B3) improves metabolism in many ways. Absence of niacin also causes acne.
    • Pantothenic acid (Vitamin B5) is needed for normal function of suprarenal glands, which generate such hormones as adrenaline. It also relieves from stress, which can cause acne, too.
    • Pyridoxine (Vitamin B6) is a necessary vitamin for immune system. Its lack is also acne-causing factor, therefore everything that has been said about vitamin B2 is also applicable to this one.
  • Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) – the main substance responsible for proper immune defense of the organism.
  • Vitamin E (tocopherol) – antioxidant, preventing damage of skin cells.

If you don’t consume food products containing these vitamins in enough quantities, you should take them separately as special preparations. Such preparations you can find in any drug store.
