What is women acne?

What does it mean – women acne? Does it mean ugliness, unattractiveness, sleeplessness, despondence and unhappiness and discontentment with life?  Or does it mean unremitting struggle and despair because of futility of all attempts to defeat your enemy? No, surely it is not so. If you already have a trouble like this you may elaborate a strategy of your own, how you should tackle this issue, no matter if it is pregnancy acne or teenage acne.

First is not to have a panic. Couple of blotches on your forehead really does not take anything away from your beauty. And if it is a single pimple – that is not a problem at all. If the case is more serious, be calm – all types of acne are quite curable and definitely they are just temporary.

Then you ought to determine a root cause of your problem. A root cause can be the same, but also quite different from an obvious one, because evident cause can possibly be only consequence of some other cause (root cause or even some intermediate one). For example, if you have acne because of using some makeup, you should pay attention on its composition – maybe it is some constituent that causes allergy and you should pay attention on other cosmetics and avoid using any products containing this element. Thus, root cause determination is a first step to eliminate reoccurrence of acne in future,

When a root cause is known you should choose a kind of treatment you are going to apply to your little disaster. To begin with, we advise you to find natural acne treatment products. This not necessarily stands for some herbs. You may just try to change your makeup, be more thorough in your hygiene, change your birth control pills (of course, if you use any), maybe also change something in your diet (for example, consume less spicy dishes, do not use alcoholic drinks). If it doesn’t help, then you should attend your doctor who will prescribe you some special treatment, which will be related to your individual case.

  • Skin Care for Guys and Girls

Is there any difference in skin care for guys and girls? Yes, there is.

Skin care for guys. If you have to shave, then be very careful about it. Run a test on yourself and see if which type of razor is better for you. I’d say that electric razors are the thing to use if you suffer from acne, but each man knows better what works in his case. Shave gently and avoid opening up existing lesions.

Skin care for girls. Cosmetics are one of the minor roots of acne. If you’re going through an acne treatment, then choose only oil-free cosmetics or else the good effect is wasted. You should also run tests on yourself and see which cosmetics do not clog your pores. Watch out for side-effects if you use products whose labels say “designed not to clog pores”.

  • Control Your Chest Acne

Acne was once known as the mark of adolescence. This image has slowly diminished with today’s rapidly changing lifestyle. Studies have shown that at present, approximately fifty-four percent of the female population in their adulthood are suffering from various forms of acne problems. These problems may include pimples, blackheads and epidermal cysts. As teens, people acquire acne because of some genetic factors that may have left them prone to this condition. However, in adulthood, acne may come not only from the genetic factor, but also from the hormonal changes, stressful lifestyle, urban pollution and various preparations and medications such as birth-control pills. Since hormonal changes, like that induced by menopause, are more drastic in women, they are also more prone to acne problems as compared to men. Only forty percent of adult men at present are suffering from these skin irritations.

Acne conditions in adulthood starts with the shedding of epidermal cells. The flakes shed by the epidermis then clog up the skin’s pores. Meanwhile, oil is produced by the oil glands in the skin, which should, ideally, be released through these pores. Since the pores are clogged, the oild builds up under the skin, creating a conducive environment for bacteria growth.

One form of acne problem common in women as well as men is the chest acne. People suffer from facial acne due to its increased exposure to pollution and other external acne-inducing factors. However, people’s bodies may also become prone to acne when the internal factors like hormonal change, genes, and medication are accompanied by perspiration trapped by synthetic clothing. The best way to avoid this condition is to wear breathable fabrics, like cotton, in order to induce evaporation of sweat. Another effective control measure against acne on the chest, neck and collar areas is the acne product like acne treatment systems. It prevents the breakout of body acne, controls hormonal change and clean your skin.

  • Causes of acne

The fact is that acne is the result of overactive hormones. And today’s environment has created such horrific hormonal imbalances that our bodies struggle just to keep working at 100% efficiency.

We have thousands of very fine hairs on our faces, chests and upper backs. Under our skin, and attached to each of these hair follicles, are sebaceous glands, which produce an oily substance called sebum. Normally, sebum is a good thing as it prevents our skin from drying out, makes our skin glow, and keeps it soft and supple as well.

But acne is caused by the overactivity of these glands which then produce too much sebum and secrete the oily substances onto our skin.

Throughout time, the onset of puberty and the natural changes in the adolescent body mean that hormonal changes are occurring. Women are also regularly subjected to increased hormonal activity until the age of menopause.

But it is now well-known that our environment has had a huge impact on us – our size, weight, growth and aging patterns, fertility and general health are all affected by the amount of pollution and quality of air we breathe, by the amount of UV rays from the sun, by the food we eat and by the water we drink and bathe in.

The meat and dairy products we eat contain growth steroids. Pesticide traces are on almost all the fruits and vegetables we consume. Products like wheat and sugar come from genetically modified crops. Our water contains chemicals to kill harmful organisms which can make us ill.

The level of hormones in our bodies is mostly responsible for causing the glands to produce an excess of oil. Eventually, this combines with the uneven shedding of dead skin cells and ends up clogging our pores.

When our pores get clogged, this causes blackheads and whiteheads, which can stay clogged up in our pores for years and years. More serious acne problems, like pimples, nodules and cysts form when bacteria becomes part of the mix.

A bacterium called Propionibacterium acnes normally lives harmlessly on your skin but when excess oil begins clogging up the pores, it feeds off the sebum and produces chemicals and enzymes which cause a response from the body’s immune system. The skin becomes inflamed and can then lead to an outbreak of pimples, painful nodules (under the skin), or cysts. Acne nodules and cysts can rupture, spreading infection into skin tissue which can then result in deep and permanent scarring.

You can’t possibly control all the factors that cause acne, but there are acne products, that are specially forumlated to control acne-causing bacteria internally and externally.

  • Adult Acne

Often called the dark side of acne, adult acne is one those embarrassing topics among adults, largely because most people get rid of it naturally as they grow older. Official statistics show that acne affects 25 percent of all adult males and 50 percent of adult females at some point in their lives. That makes it a pretty big problem, especially in today’s world, where social life is very important and physical appearance plays a crucial role in everybody’s careers. A face full of red spots is bad enough for a teen, but infinitely worse for an adult.

One of the first things that can be gleaned from the statistical data is the fact that acne is not exactly uncommon among adults. Adult acne is usually split between severe cases of acne that never went away and flare-ups of dormant acne on subjects aged between 30 and 40. There are also cases when people developed acne for the first time as adults, although such cases are somewhat rare and triggered mostly by chemicals or chronic physical pressure on the skin. The causes of adult acne are not entirely understood by science. It is believed that hormones are responsible for a certain part of cases, which means that some people managed to contain their acne with hormonal treatment. In any case, adult acne warrants a trip to the doctor.

Regardless of its roots, adult acne has the same M.O. as the common forms. The sebum, an oily substance secreted by the sebaceous glands attached to hair follicles, mixes with dead skin cells and plugs the follicle. Thus, bacteria start thriving in the closed environment and the follicle swells with white cells and bacteria killing each other inside. Attempts of solving the situation by squeezing open the pimples also tend to worsen the situation by exposing unprotected flesh to more bacteria.

Adults suffering from acne should avoid strong cleaning agents containing strong chemicals. Women should also be careful about their make-up, while men should try to shave without damaging their skin in the process. Exposure to dust and pollution is another thing to be avoided and skin should be kept as clean as possible without overdoing.

  • Women and acne

Men and women are very different creatures when it comes to hormones and the entire system of psychological and physical effects deriving from it. One good example for this statement is acne. The accelerated hormonal development in boys almost always results in acne, but this is not the case for girls. Women often develop acne for the first time in their 20s or even later.

Of course, the fertility cycle and the hormonal changes it triggers throughout the body is often the cause of sporadic acne outbreaks in women, although the exact process is poorly understood at this moment. High levels of androgens are the likely cause for premenstrual acne, since it is known that androgens regulate the oil production in sebaceous glands. The more androgens around, the higher the risk of clogging pores with excess sebum.

Women have less chance of developing the kind of acne that plagues men, but they also have a harder time getting rid of it. During pregnancy, women suffering from acne must get by with topical treatments recommended by their doctor and are not allowed to use drugs. Birth control pills are a common way of treating acne, since they interfere precisely with the hormonal cycle and serve to rein in acne. However, the use of any kind of pills to treat acne should be supervised by a doctor.
